October 23, 2009

Hello, Exhibitors!

Thank you for entering the October 31-November 1, 2009 Halloween CPE Trial hosted by AgileDogs Agility Training.  This is your entry confirmation. We have a total of 136 dogs entered for 366 runs on Saturday and 353 runs on Sunday.

Because this trial was unlimited, and we received a lot of entries, we are going to run one class a day in a second ring, judged by Eileen Keegan, so that we can finish before dark each day.  We will accommodate any conflicts between rings, so don’t worry, you won’t miss a run!  Walk throughs in the Sandy ring will be timed at 7 minutes.

There are many newbies to agility attending this weekend’s trial, so if this describes you, please don’t be shy about asking questions, and if you’re a veteran to the game, please mentor the new folks as much as possible, we were all there once!  We hope you will all have fun this weekend.  To help make the weekend go smoothly, please volunteer to help whenever possible (more on that below).

Shatford Park details:

  1. It is absolutely required that you pick up after your dog.  Failure to do so will result in being excused from the trial.
  2. Bring your own chairs and shade.
  3. There is a creek and hiking trail in the area behind the park, and a creek near the front of the park.
  4. Remember that ticks abound in this area, so be sure to check your dogs for ticks, especially if you walk them in the woods.
  5. Cars must be parked in designated areas, and may not be driven around the rings after the general briefing each day

·         Perfect weekend rosettes will be awarded to teams achieving Q’s in all 9 runs.

Trial Format:

Two 100’ x 100’ fully enclosed rings will be used.   Conflicts are inevitable, but we will make sure you never miss a run, so don't panic!  Every conflict will be accommodated as long as you tell the gate stewards that you have a conflict.  Electronic timing will be used in both rings.

Check-in, Measuring, and Starting Times:

Friday:           Site available for set-up starting at 4:30 pm (if you come earlier, we will ask for and
appreciate your help with site setup!)
Note: no Check-in on Friday night

Saturday:       Check-in and measuring will be from 7:15 – 7:45

General / Judges’ briefing 7:45, 1st dog on the line in Sandy Ring:  8:15 AM, 1st dog on the line in Crystal
                     Ring: 8:30 AM.

Sunday:         Check-in and measuring will be from 6:45 – 7: 15
NOTE: The Time Change Saturday night means an extra hour’s sleep but an
hour’s less light Sunday afternoon, so we have moved the start time up for Sunday

General / Judges’ briefing 7:15, 1st dog on the line in Sandy Ring: 7:45 AM, 1st dog on the
line in Crystal Ring: 9:00 AM.

There will be NO measuring of dogs AFTER the Judges Briefing begins each day – ALL DOGS WITHOUT A PERMANENT HEIGHT CARD MUST BE MEASURED before the Judges’ Briefing in order to show that day – THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.

The following class, level, and height order is tentative, and subject to change if necessary.

Only a few copies of the run catalog will be available at the trial.  The catalog will be available for download and printing a few days before the trial on www.agiledogs.net

The volunteer schedule will be posted on the AgileDogs website the week before the trial.  Thanks to all who volunteered!

Please do not worry about conflicts between classes you’re working and classes you’re running in.  All workers will be accommodated.  You can move your dog within a class to make sure you have time to concentrate on having a successful run with your 4-footed partner.

If your job for a given class is timer, scribe, assistant scribe, or gate steward, please report to the chief ring steward when the briefing for the class begins, so you can prepare for your job and so the judge can brief you if needed – thanks!  If your job is anything not already mentioned, you can report any time before or during the walk through.

If you didn’t volunteer to work but would like to help out, please contact Bob Domfort as soon as possible – thanks!  Bob@agiledogs.net, 518-237-7712

  • Food Eric and Joanne Lapine will be providing homemade food for breakfast and lunch for this trial.
  • Photographer: Canines in Action, Dottie Piroha, will be on site both Saturday and Sunday taking pictures.   Dottie's website is www.piroha.com/Site/CIAPhotography-666.html

After the completion of runs in both rings on Saturday, we will be having a dog costume parade (handlers are welcome to dress up, too!).  Bob and Trisha (and perhaps Jeff also) will be awarding prizes at their discretion based on entrants in this parade.

During the trial, move-ups in Standard from Saturday to Sunday will be taken at the show, and must be submitted to the Show Secretary before the completion of the last class of the day.  Thank you for your cooperation.  There will be no move-ups in the Standard classes on Saturday.

The deadline for contacting the secretary with move ups or corrections before the trial is the end of day on Monday, October 26th.  Any changes to entries made after that date will be subject to a $5 service change fee.

CPE has initiated new rules effective February 1, 2007; review the CPE website for details (www.k9cpe.com).
