TDAA Agility Trial, October 29-30, 2011

Hello, everyone!

This is your final confirmation for the TDAA trial to be held at Sugar Bush Farm in Stephentown, NY.  Your entry information will be coming in a separate email.  Please let me know ASAP if there are any errors.

The site will be open for setup starting at 8:00 a.m. on both days.  There will be no setup or check-in on Friday, October 28.  There is some crating space in the building; however, to maximize availability if it is cold outside, please stack crates as much as possible and no x-pens, please.  Remember that the building will be heated, if needed.

Measuring and check-in will be from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Please note:  Per TDAA policy, if you did not include a copy of your dog’s permanent TDAA jump height card with your entry, you must present the card or a copy of it at check-in or the dog must be measured prior to running at this trial.  Please check your entry confirmation to determine if you must present the card or have the dog measured.

There will be a general briefing followed by obstacle familiarization immediately following check-in each day.  The judge’s briefing for the first class will take place immediately after this.

Volunteers: Thank you to all who volunteered to work!  Because TDAA trials are small, we need you all to help out.  We can’t do these trials without your help and, as thanks, we’ll have free snacks and lunch for everyone, courtesy of my Mom, Marge Stall.  We will have copies of the worker schedule available at the show.

There will be no food vendor or photographer at this event.

Day of Show Entries: Don't forget, we're offering day of show entries at $14 a run, so if you have another dog you'd like to run or if you have a friend with a dog that wants to come join the fun, bring them along!

Add-on Class: In addition, if time permits, we will be offering an additional class at the end of the day on both Saturday and Sunday that will only cost $6 a run!  We’ll announce sign ups for this additional class sometime during the day each day.

Don’t forget FEO runs!  TDAA allows FEO entries for teams to re-run classes at the team’s competitive level or to run classes at a lower or higher level, but only after their competition run.  Didn’t like the way you handled that front cross in Standard?  See the trial secretary for an FEO run at the end of the class.  Figured out a new strategy for that point accumulation game that might earn more points?  See the trial secretary.  Think your Beginner dog is ready to tackle a Superior level Standard course?  You got it!  See the trial secretary!  FEO runs are a mere $8.

Halloween Costume Contest: at the conclusion of runs on Saturday we will be holding a dog Halloween costume parade and contest.  There will be prizes, so get creative!

Our planned running order (subject to change at the trial):

DIRECTIONS TO TRIAL SITE:

From the South: Take the New York State Thruway North to exit 21A, the "Berkshire Spur", and get off at exit B3 (Austerlitz/New Lebanon). * Follow signs for Route 22 North. Take Route 22 North for approximately 9 miles to the town of New Lebanon. At the red blinking light take a right to stay on Route 22 North. Take a left just before the boarded up gas station to stay on Route 22 North; follow it for approximately 5 miles to the town of Stephentown (you'll enter Rensselear county about a mile before entering Stephentown). **Go straight through the traffic light at the intersection of Routes 22 & 43, and continue up a hill where 22 becomes 2 lanes.  It reduces back to one lane at the top of the hill, and you will pass a mobile home park on your right.  Just after that turn right to Giles Road (Cty Route 33).  **Turn right at the bend in the road; in about ½ mile you’ll see the farm buildings, and the training building on the right (white domed roof and tan walls with windows).  Parking is next to the building.

From the West: Take the New York State Thruway to exit 24, Albany. Stay on I-90 (this is a no-toll section) until the end, which is past exit 12. This re-connects with the Thruway (the "Berkshire Spur"). Take this to exit B3 (Austerlitz/New Lebanon), and follow directions from * above.

Alternate directions from the West: from the non-toll section of I-90 take exit 8, Route 43 Eastbound.  Follow for approximately 8 miles to the intersection of routes 66 and 43 in Sand Lake.  Turn right at the light to stay on route 43.  Follow for approximately 10 more miles through Stephentown to the light at the intersection of Routes 22 and 43.  Turn left at the light to Route 22 North, and follow directions from * above.

From the East: Take the Mass Turnpike to the New York State line, where it becomes the New York Thruway. Take the very first exit in New York, Exit B3 (Austerlitz/New Lebanon), and follow directions from * above.

From the North:  From Hoosick Falls you will take Route 22 South.  Go through the town of Berlin.  Approximately 3 miles south of the Berlin Jr./Sr. High School is Giles Road on the left.  Continue with directions from ** above.
