What is
CDAFG?
Jeff Boyer (you know Chalupa, that cute Chihuahua?) has put
together a neat thing for us agility-folk to keep us busy and in touch
with each other this winter. We're calling it the Capital District
Agility Fun Group (CDAFG for short). It is a traveling competition of
sorts, between local clubs. The clubs involved are AgileDogs, JAZZ
(Jumps and Zig Zags), AOC (Albany Obedience Club),
and SDTC (Schenectady Dog Training Club). Between December 2006 and
March 2007, on 8 different Saturdays, teams from
each club will travel to either Sugar Bush Farm/AgileDogs (Stephentown), AOC
(Glenmont), or JAZZ Agility (Greenfield Center), to all run their dogs on
a standard and games course. All will be held on Saturday mornings
from 10am-noon.
The Saturdays of the competitions are:
WK 1 December 2 - hosted by JAZZ
WK 2 December 16 - hosted by AgileDogs
(followed by AgileDogs Christmas Party!)
WK 3 January 6, 2007 - hosted by AOC
WK 4 January 13 - hosted by SDTC at AgileDogs
WK 5 February 3 - hosted by AOC
WK 6 February 10 - hosted by JAZZ
WK 7 March 10 - hosted by SDTC at AOC
WK 8 March 24 - hosted by AgileDogs
Each dog present each week will run both
courses. The lowest score of every 4 dog/handler teams for every run
is dropped, and the rest of the scores added. We'll be keeping track
throughout the winter of how each club is doing, and there will be both
special awards given for individual performances (both good and bad and
entertaining, no doubt!), and an overall award given at the end to the
winning club. Every team will end up getting several nice souvenirs as
well as great times and good memories when all is said and done.
